About
the Pool
The Mallaig and District Swimming Pool is situated in a spectacular
location high above the coast, looking out across the Sound of Sleat
towards the Isle of Skye and the Small Isles.
Open for public swimming seven days a week, it provides a modern
facility for residents and visitors alike - the perfect place to
spend a couple of hours during that rare rainy day!
The pool itself is 20 x 10 metres and is a non-profit-making resource
operated for the benefit of the community by a committee of local
volunteers and staffed by permanent, trained personnel. This was
made possible by the generosity of the local community and others
including Sir Cameron Mackintosh, the Lochaber District Council,
Lochaber Limited and Highland Regional Council.
Facilities available include a Fitness Suite, a Toning Table, swimming
tuition and aerobics classes and a Games Room, which is also available
for Children's Parties (perhaps combined with a swimming session).
Open 361 days a year, the building has wheelchair access and WC
as well as baby-changing facilities.
A Mobility Hoist is available for entering the water, available
during four specific sessions a week.
We are currently fund-raising for the refurbishment of our Spa Bath
and hold regular events to pormote this - donations are very welcome.
