Lessons
Staff at the facility provide high standards and boast
an excellent success rate with junior and adult swimming
lessons. Tuition is available for 3 years old and upwards
- it is never too late to learn to swim!!
There are a range of lessons available - Aquatots for
pre-school children, Beginner & Improver group lessons
for Juniors and Adults, and private tuition for those
wanting
one-to-one attention.
Lessons for both adults and for children aged three
years and over can be booked in advance by telephoning
01687 462229. Lessons last half an hour and are given
by ASA-trained instructors. Children's lessons cost
£3.70 (£8.00 private) and adult lessons
£4.00 (£10.00 private).
Group
Lessons
The following groups are currently running:
Aquatots (3 to 5 y.o beginners) Lessons on Mondays and
Fridays, £3.70 per lesson. There are limited places

* Rookie Lifeguard
Rookie Lifeguard is a national scheme run by the
RLSS to encourage children to be aware of water safety. The
scheme also covers rescuing others without putting yourself
at risk, self rescue & what actions to take in an emergency.
FRIDAYS 4.00PM-5.00PM. CHILDREN MUST BE 8 YEARS OR
OVER AND ABLE TO SWIM TWO LENGTHS.

Fitness Suite
The gym is equipped with cardiovascular and resistance machinery
to give the body an excellent workout. During the Gym Induction
staff will show you the correct way to use each piece of machinery
safely in order to achieve maximum results. Fitness Assessments
and Programmes are available to give you further guidance
in improving your health and fitness. Admission charge
: £3.30. Monthly gym cards cost £25, and HighSchool
pupils pay £2.50 per session.
Fitness Assessments
Fitness Assessments are carried out by
a qualified fitness trainer and cost £10.00. This price
includes both the assessment anda training programme for the
gym, designed to suit your fitness capabilities. Please call
us to arrange an assessment.
Toning
Table
The multifunction toning table is ideal for use by
those who are restricted in their movement, as it can help
tone the body and improve posture - perfect for anyone trying
to keep fit and healthy.
Admission charge : £5.00 for three half-hour sessions. |

Adult Exercise Classes
A variety of aerobics classes are available
at the Mallaig Pool. It includes Step Aerobics, Low Impact
Aerobics, Bums & Turns & Water aerobics. Classes are
fun and social, provide an excellent aerobic workout, and
include some toning exercises. The routines are challenging
but you don't have to be a master in dance to enjoy a class.
All classes cost £3.50 and a ten-session Aerobics Pass
is available for £30.00.
Note that all classes are subject to demand and places must
be booked in advance . A minimum of 5 people is required for

We receive an annual Service Improvement
Grant from Highland Council and this money can only be spent
on improving services. In previous years we have used it,
amongst other things, to have the exterior building painted
and the fencing put up; it was decided that this time we would
spend money on upgrading our gym equipment.
The type of equipment we opted to buy/replace due to the
more popular usage was the cardiovascular equipment ie the
non weight equipment. We now have a brand new jogger with
an incline – this means that the running bed can be
raised to make walking and running more interesting and challenging.
We have replaced the stepper with a brand new high spec model
and have introduced a new piece of cardiovascular equipment,
the Cardio Wave. This is one of the latest new types of machines
to be released and is already popular with the customers currently
using the gym, it has an action similar to skiing or roller
blading.
Cardiac Gym sessions cost just £2.10. |
Games
Room
Table tennis is available in this room subject to its use
by private hire. The Games Room is ideal for children's birthday
parties, either combining it with a swim or just hiring the room
on its own.
